Your Aruba Weekend Guide: November 11 - December 1, 2025

By Diana Croes, Local Expert

Bon bini, friends! Welcome to what I consider one of the most magical times to visit our One Happy Island. As we transition from the tail end of our brief rainy season into the sunny, breezy days of December, you’re in for a treat. The island is buzzing with pre-holiday energy, carnival preparations are underway, and the weather is absolutely gorgeous for exploring everything Aruba has to offer.

Let me share my insider picks for making the most of these three weeks on our beautiful island.

Top Events and Activities

1. Aruba Carnival Season Kicks Off

Starting Tuesday, November 11 | Various locations across the island

This is huge, folks! November marks the official start of our beloved Carnival season, and if you’ve never experienced Aruban Carnival, you’re in for something special. While the main parades happen in early 2026, November is when the energy starts building with preliminary events, music competitions, and the election of carnival royalty.

Keep an eye out for Caiso and Soca competitions happening at local venues throughout the month. These events showcase our incredible local musicians and give you an authentic taste of Caribbean culture. Entry fees typically range from $10-25 USD, and trust me, the atmosphere is electric.

Pro tip: Follow @araboracarnival on social media for last-minute event announcements. Some of the best parties aren’t heavily advertised!

2. Bon Bini Festival

Monday, December 1 | Fort Zoutman, Oranjestad | 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

End your three-week adventure with this weekly celebration of Aruban culture at historic Fort Zoutman. The Bon Bini Festival (which means “Welcome” in Papiamento) has been running for decades and remains one of my favorite ways to introduce visitors to our traditions.

Expect folkloric music and dance performances, local artisans selling handmade crafts, and delicious traditional food vendors. The setting at our 18th-century fort, with the Willem III Tower glowing in the evening light, is simply magical.

Cost: Approximately $5 USD entry fee What to bring: Cash for vendors, comfortable shoes, and your dancing spirit!

3. Arikok National Park Adventures

Daily | 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

November is perfect for exploring our stunning national park, which covers nearly 20% of the island. The temperatures are comfortable, and recent rains mean the landscape has a beautiful green tinge you won’t see during our drier months.

Don’t miss:

  • Fontein Cave with its ancient Arawak drawings
  • The Natural Pool (Conchi) for a refreshing swim surrounded by volcanic rock
  • Boca Prins for dramatic coastal views and excellent photography

Entry fee: $15 USD for adults, $9 for children Insider tip: Go early morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. If you’re visiting the Natural Pool, wear sturdy water shoes - the rocks are slippery!

4. California Lighthouse Sunset Experience

Daily | Best at 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM

The California Lighthouse at the island’s northern tip offers what I genuinely believe are the best sunsets in the Caribbean. During November, the sun sets around 6:15 PM, painting the sky in incredible oranges and purples.

Combine your sunset viewing with dinner at one of the nearby restaurants. La Trattoria El Faro Blanco offers Italian cuisine with unbeatable views, while Faro Blanco serves up excellent seafood. Make reservations, especially for Friday and Saturday evenings.

5. Downtown Oranjestad Walking Tour

Self-guided, anytime | Free

Our capital city is bursting with Dutch colonial charm, and November’s pleasant weather makes walking exploration ideal. Start at the colorful buildings along Main Street, pop into the Archaeological Museum (free admission), and wander through Renaissance Marketplace.

My walking route: Start at Plaza Daniel Leo, walk down Caya G.F. Betico Croes (our main shopping street), continue to the harbor, and end at Fort Zoutman. Stop for a fresh coconut water from the vendors near the cruise terminal!

6. Palm Beach Water Sports

Daily | Various operators

The waters are beautifully calm this time of year, making it perfect for:

  • Stand-up paddleboarding (rentals from $25/hour)
  • Snorkeling trips to the Antilla shipwreck (half-day tours from $50)
  • Parasailing for incredible aerial views (around $75 per person)

Best snorkeling spots: Mangel Halto, Boca Catalina, and Malmok Beach

7. San Nicolas Art Walk

Ongoing | San Nicolas | Free

Our “Sunrise City” has transformed into an open-air gallery with over 40 murals by international and local artists. November is ideal for exploring these vibrant streets without the intense summer heat.

While you’re there, stop by Charlie’s Bar, an Aruba institution since 1941, covered floor to ceiling with memorabilia from visitors over the decades.

Weather Considerations

You’ve picked an excellent time! November typically brings:

  • Temperatures: 82-88°F (28-31°C) during the day, cooling to pleasant 76-78°F (24-26°C) at night
  • Rainfall: Occasional brief showers, usually passing within 20-30 minutes
  • Trade winds: Consistent and refreshing, keeping mosquitoes at bay
  • Water temperature: A perfect 80°F (27°C)

What to pack:

  • Light, breathable clothing
  • Reef-safe sunscreen (mandatory for our marine life!)
  • A light layer for air-conditioned restaurants
  • Waterproof phone case for those spontaneous rain showers

Practical Tips from a Local

Getting Around: Rent a car if you want to explore beyond the hotel zones. Rates start around $35-45/day. We drive on the right side like the US, and roads are well-maintained. Download offline Google Maps - cell service can be spotty in Arikok.

Money Matters: While we have our own currency (Aruban Florin), US dollars are accepted literally everywhere at a standard 1.80 Florin to $1 rate. Credit cards work in most places, but carry cash for food trucks and smaller vendors.

Dining Reservations: November starts our busy season. Book popular restaurants like Passions on the Beach, Screaming Eagle, or Barefoot at least a few days in advance, especially for weekend dinners.

Local Language: We speak Papiamento, Dutch, Spanish, and English. Learn a few Papiamento phrases to make locals smile:

  • Bon dia - Good day
  • Masha danki - Thank you very much
  • Con ta bay? - How are you?

Final Thoughts

These three weeks offer the perfect blend of cultural experiences, natural beauty, and that laid-back Caribbean vibe Aruba is famous for. Whether you’re catching the early carnival energy, exploring our rugged coastline, or simply swaying to the rhythm of a steel drum band at the Bon Bini Festival, you’ll understand why we call this One Happy Island.

Need more personalized recommendations? Pop into any local bar or restaurant and ask - Arubans love sharing our island with visitors. We take hospitality seriously here.

Pasa un bon dia, and enjoy your time in Aruba!

Diana
